Welcome to the Euro Cup 2008 Pool. The best soccer nations in Europe will be battling for the coveted title of European Champion in Switzerland and Austria this June. We want you to share all of the action with us. Which country will lay claim to European soccer supremacy? Will a long shot like Greece win it all again? Or will a traditional power take the crown? Put your prognostication skills (or luck) to the test in this unique and fun contest that covers all 31 matches played from June 7 through the championship game on June 29! Make your picks for every day on the tournament schedule which begins Saturday, June 7. The scoring system is simple; points are awarded for correctly predicting the match result. As the tournament progresses, the stakes get higher. The bigger the match, the more points you can earn - if you're right!
Pick 31 winners and you could win $100,000! Pick enough right and you could win a 42" HDTV or one of the many other prizes to be won. We've split the tournament into two prize segments—the Group Stage and the Knockout Stage—so you've got several chances to win!
The Game Plan
Here are a few things to keep in mind when playing the Euro Cup 2008 Pool:
- You will need to submit your picks before the applicable deadline each day. The deadline is shortly before the scheduled start of the first match that day. Remember, the matches are played in Switzerland and Austria so pay close attention to the deadlines.
- Check the Standings here at Euro Cup 2008 Pool headquarters every day to see how you are doing. Compare your selections with anyone else in the contest once the action starts and find out which teams must win or lose for you to gain ground on your opponents!
- Look at the Consensus Picks to see which outcomes are the popular picks.
- Get personal email with your performance summary after each stage and a reminder to make your picks before each deadline.
Run your own office pool within the main game and invite your co-workers, friends or family to join. Compete with your group members for bragging rights while you battle everyone else in the overall contest! You can even Trash Talk with your friends and colleagues who don't know Spain from Sweden and are way behind you in the group (or on whatever topic you like).
